Artist Statement
In "The Peripheral Third Dimension", the artist’s aim is to convey their thoughts about their preferred environments by contrasting the interior and exterior spaces. The title alludes to the emphasis placed on one distinct space encircling the other identical spaces. The utilisation of sound in these areas serves as the inspiration for both exterior and interior spaces. The distinct space distinguishes apart from the similar spaces because it is perceived as being lively, noisy, and active whereas the others are serene and quiet. These settings are viewed as the artists' ideal living area; even though they are opposing, the artist chooses to have it that way as it all syncs together in their life.
The room in the painting represents the artist's preferred areas; the exterior space is represented by the stippling brushstrokes and bright wall, while the interior space is represented by the calm brushstrokes and dark walls. The creative process involved creating collages from photographs of crowds of people, cars, landscapes and passages which involve an exterior. The artist used an impasto and stippling painting technique in the focal point to grab the attention of the audience and to contrast the smooth brush strokes in the surrounding walls.
